underway for a cough killer on the loose in the state of hawaii marking the sixth police officer shot in the us just this week. jillian: we have more on the latest attacks on our men and women in blue. >> reporter: even paradise isn't spared, brave men and women in blue with the officer shot dead and the manhunt for his killer intensifying overnight. authorities were conducting a traffic stop tuesday night when the driver got out and fired multiple shots. officer bronson who was struck in the neck and leg later died at the hospital, the tenure police veteran was honored as officer of the month in april 2014, he leaves behind a wife and three small children. in massachusetts handcuff that used to hang off of the belt of michael chesna were used to

restrain the man accused of killing the officer with his own gun. this shows a state police trooper putting the cuffs on emmanuel lopez on his way to his arraignment, he shot chesna ten times before killing a 77-year-old woman. this week alone six officers were shot, three in missouri, one in north carolina. these latest deaths bringing the disturbing number of officers killed by gunfire alone in 2018 to 33 according to the officer down memorial page, and absolutely horrific first 7 months of 2018. jillian: a corrections officer is dead after a brutal attack, minnesota officer reportedly beaten with a hammer and an inmate work area. the suspect serving a 30 year

sentence. the officer was armed with pepper spray and a radio to call for backup. he had been with the department for 16 years. rob: 22 soldiers, a large tent collapses in a military base, wind caused by a black hawk helicopter. down the structure in california. this happened during an annual training exercise. most of the injuries were minor, four soldiers were taken to the hospital. >> republicans passed a measure supporting ice agents but some democrats call it a stunned. rob: the house backing a spending bill that would give $5 billion to secure the border. >> jillian turner live from the

hill. >> a direct response to abolish the immigration and customs enforcement agency known as ice, the nonbinding resolution passed 244-35 with an additional 120 democrats voting present allowing them to avoid voting for or against. and after the vindication of that vote ice supporters firing back including agencies departed leader. >> what is incredible is politicians, members of the legislature would much rather abolish a law enforcement agency than fix a law. ice is enforcing the law, rather than doing their job and fixing it let's abolish -- ridiculous. >> democrats took the vote is an opportunity to hit back against the trump administration on the so-called separation policy and accuse republican colleagues of pulling a political stunt. >> a meaningless political stunt

american worker. >> robust job gains, rising after-tax income and optimism among households lifted consumer spending in recent months. difficult to predict the ultimate outcome of current discussions over trade policy. overall we see the risk of the economy unexpectedly weakening as roughly balanced with the possibility of the economy growing faster than we anticipate. rob: democrats threatened by the president's economic success as we head into the midterms. former us international trade commission chief and economist peter moricci, thank you for coming back. let's start with unemployment. we are down 4% at this point. the anticipation is it is going to keep falling something like 3.6%. is that right? >> we get 4% growth this quarter, we are absorbing more workers than a new entrance into

the labor force so the unemployment rate will keep on falling, we can go down 3% without risking inflation. >> we are at pretty much full employment in the country. >> we have more job openings, and more job openings, the economy seems to lure people off the bench, during the obama years were encouraged essentially to sign up for some kind of welfare instead of working. >> more people coming out, giving up and that should make unemployment go up if more people are searching again. >> we are adding more jobs, people maturing to 21 or so and people getting off of the bench.

we have a large residual from folks who have not worked in recent years but could work. we are in good shape in that regard. >> a successful economy from the aspects i have seen, looking at potential of four interest rate hikes after having virtually none over the last we 10 years. >> interest rates were arbitrarily low, 21/4% on the federal funds rate, the bank overnight lending rate. it is hardly alarming. we are far away from an interest rate threatening to the recovery so businesses don't do reckless things by borrowing. shep: and indicator how flat the economy is from 2008 to 2016. everything kept so low and so

this country and there's only a handful of cities that allow noncitizens to vote. the reason people are opposed to this is you make a commitment to this country, take an oath to this country, which you can't do if you have divided loyalty, taking it one step further allowing illegal aliens to register to vote starting this month and that raises troubling questions about who is making decisions. >> why do some of the cities and towns want them to vote? >> it is obvious, the perception by the democrats is aliens, particularly illegal aliens are more likely to vote democratic once they become citizens. we don't have to wait for them to become citizens, let them vote now and vote for the progressive policies, more money, more taxes etc.. >> what would be some pros and

cons? >> illegal aliens are registered to vote in school board elections. hiring and firing decisions, the next step is a slippery slope to allow them to vote for supervisors, why not? the argument they live in our jurisdiction, shouldn't they have a say? felons don't have a say in most elections, they are not permanently committed to being americans or in that jurisdiction. portland is looking at allowing people up here, quote, legally temporarily but most do not get approved and many of them are safe from some of these countries so the push is by a city councilman who is an illegal alien originally who

wants this. citizens have to fight this and say we want people voting in our elections to our here, committed to the us, sworn to uphold our constitution and allegiance to our flag only and not people who are divided allegiance. jillian: what is your message to some of these community members? >> for the community members, look towards being a citizen of the united states is a great privilege and honor and something that is precious and should be taken seriously and if you're here illegally you have a different challenge under current law and that should be as well. you should go back to your country and wait in line like other people who come legally. that is the most important message but citizens of these jurisdictions need to take charge. we have voter apathy in our
